Other Masonic & Youth Organizations 

Monroe Masonic Lodge No. 244 is proud to support the broader Masonic family by providing a home for additional fraternal and youth organizations. These groups reflect the shared values of Freemasonry -- Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth -- and contribute to the strength of the Craft in our community.

 

Monroe York Rite Bodies

The York Rite continues a Mason’s journey beyond the Master Mason degree, offering further instruction and insight into the traditions and teachings of the Craft.

  • Monroe Chapter No. 64, Royal Arch Masons
    Completes the story of the Master Mason degree, emphasizing the recovery of lost knowledge and deeper symbolic understanding. 
  • Solomon of the Silver Trowel Council No. 24, Royal & Select Masters
    Explores the preservation of sacred knowledge and the historical foundations of the Temple. 
  • Malta Commandery No. 19, Knights Templar
    A Christian-oriented Masonic body focused on chivalry, faith, and service.  

 

Allied Masonic Degrees (AMD)

The Allied Masonic Degrees are invitational bodies composed of Master Masons who seek further light through research, historical study, and additional Masonic degrees. These councils preserve some of the oldest and most unique traditions within Freemasonry.

The following AMD Councils meet at Monroe Lodge:

  • St. Andrew’s in America Council No. 1A
    One of the oldest AMD councils in the United States, dedicated to Masonic scholarship and preservation of early degree work. 
  • J. Ray Shute III Council No. 184
    Named in honor of a prominent North Carolina Mason late son, this council also emphasizes research, fellowship, and the continuation of traditional Masonic knowledge. 
  • St. John’s of Damascus Council No. 8
    This Council was moved from Gastonia and is also focused on the philosophical and historical aspects of Masonry, fostering deeper understanding among its members. 

 

Truth Lodge No. 749

Truth Lodge No. 749 is a sister lodge to Monroe 244.  Founded in 1974 it is  meeting within our building. It shares the same foundational principles of Freemasonry and is committed to community service, fellowship, and moral development.

 

Charlotte Chapter, Order of DeMolay

The Order of DeMolay is a Masonic youth organization for young men, focused on leadership development, public speaking, civic responsibility, and character building.

Charlotte Chapter meets at Monroe Lodge and provides mentorship, structure, and opportunities for young men to grow into responsible leaders.

Though each of these organizations has its own mission and structure, all are united by a common purpose:

  • To preserve the traditions and teachings of Freemasonry
